Comprehensive Planning Underway
The effort to develop a comprehensive plan for Lafayette officially began last week as the consulting team contracted to coordinate the initiative was in town. The WRT group met with various groups and stakeholders as they began to lay the groundwork for what is expected to be an eighteen month process.

It was a week of emotional highs and lows as we bid farewell to a long time friend of the Chamber and welcomed a new leader for our parish public schools. Interestingly, the two individuals shared a common interest: improving the quality of educational opportunities in Lafayette.

Well, if you write off Monday night, it was a pretty good week for the Lafayette Chamber.
We 'officially' began our ticket sales for the annual banquet which will be held the evening of February 2 at the Cajundome Convention Center. Chamber staff is really proud of this year’s invitation that was mailed on Monday, January 9. Banquet registration on line has been open for a couple of weeks and over 300 folks had purchases tickets even before the invites. We’re expecting some 700 people to join us to 'Celebrate Lafayette.'

Chamber President Rob Guidry was in attendance as students and supporters of UL's BeauSoleil Home wished Team BeauSolesil well today. The early morning gathering was a send off as the team of architecture and engineering students climbed aboard a bus for the first leg of their journey to Washington D.C. The team is to compete in the 2009 International Solar Decathlon.
