An overwhelming number of members responding to the recent survey agreed that the Chamber should take a position on Parish President Joey Durel's 2010-2011 budget proposal to set aside $500,000 a year for ten years to purchase the "Horse Farm”.

The Lafayette Parish School Board has been presented the final report on a Master Facilities Master Plan. Your Chamber is tracking the process and our Board of Directors will be given a special presentation this week by representatives of CSRS, the planning group that conducted the study.

Two new member orientations and a similar session for newly elected and appointed Board members drew large crowds today. Chamber staff welcomed scores of new members and new directors to the quarterly orientation sessions where value-added benefits were presented.

Chamber President Rob Guidry was in attendance as students and supporters of UL's BeauSoleil Home wished Team BeauSolesil well today. The early morning gathering was a send off as the team of architecture and engineering students climbed aboard a bus for the first leg of their journey to Washington D.C. The team is to compete in the 2009 International Solar Decathlon.
