Businesses are needed to offer internships - Tuesday, April 19, 2011
What is an Academy? Each Lafayette parish high school houses an "Academy".These academies are a segment of students that study a regular high school curriculum, as well as courses centered on a specific theme. At Acadiana High School, that theme is "Business and Finance". To complete the program, students must complete an internship.

One of the most valuable ways to enhance a student's education is to connect their classroom to the business and professional world…This is done through an internship! Each student is required to work a total of 180 hours in the summer months (June or July). The intern should be paid at least minimum wage or the business could make a donation and/or scholarship to the student in lieu of the wages if they prefer.

Some of the area businesses that have participated/are participating with us include: Cajun Harley Davidson, Lafayette Schools' Federal Credit Union, First Turn, Midsouth Bank, Teche Bank, Home Bank, The Grand Theatre, McLeod-Trahan-Sheffield Physical Therapy, Cameron Motors, and many others!

If you are willing to help a student, please contact me, Stephanie Bennett, at sbbennett@lpssonline.com or (337) 984-2324 OR Bridget Bourque at bridgetbourque@yahoo.com or (337) 257-3980.
