In the ongoing quest to create an environment conducive to job growth, the Lafayette Chamber welcomes the Opportunity Machine. The OM is a business accelerator designed for technology-focused start-ups looking to grow their businesses and become a part of Lafayette's burgeoning ecosystem.
Chamber Vice-Chairman of Innovation, Bob Miller, injects a can-do attitude to the initiative.
"The OM is one of Lafayette's most exciting projects. We are about creating strong, successful new technology start-ups so they become economic drivers to ensure our community's future,” said Miller.
The OM offers access to a variety of resources to its members, including capital, eco-zones, mentors and coaches, free voice and data services, and a student intern.
Any new business that meets the criteria and characteristics may apply to participate. The OM looks for potential members who:
• Have an entrepreneurial spirit
• Create jobs
• Generate intellectual capital
• Apply science to business in an innovative way
• Fit the overall community strategy
• Give back to the member community
• Willing to be a part of a culture of fun and success
The Chamber is a partner in the Opportunity Machine along with the Lafayette Economic Development Authority, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Louisiana Small Business Development Center and the Louisiana Immersive Technologies Center.
