Chamber calls for community inclusion in selection of Schools Superintendent - Friday, July 08, 2011
The Lafayette Parish School Board has been offered the resources of the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce in the search for a new Schools Superintendent. Donna Landry, Chair of the Chamber's Education Division, extended the offer during Wednesday's meeting of the School Board.

The Chamber's Executive Committee has approved a resolution calling for a transparent process and one in which community stakeholders are included and involved in all aspects of the endeavor. The request is that public participation begins with determining the selection process; and extends through the application and candidate review; and, finally, the actual candidate selection.

Noting that the Lafayette Chamber is a charter member of the Lafayette Parish Education Stakeholders Council (LaPESC), the resolution stresses the values of the collaborative effort to ensure a world-class education for every student in every public school.

The Chamber resolution urges the School Board to draw on the LaPESC stakeholders who offer diverse perspectives, shared leadership, open dialogue, accountability, partnership, alignment, transparency, integrity, inclusiveness, communication and trust in the selection of a Schools Superintendent.
