Comprehensive Master Plan Main Focus of Building Community Conference - Wednesday, March 09, 2011
|
|
The Lafayette Chamber push for a comprehensive master plan will reach a milestone at the 2011 Building Community Conference March 24 & 25. Chamber Chair, Flo Meadows, says that John Fernsler with Wallace Roberts & Todd (WRT) will attend the conference as part of their initial community outreach.
WRT has been identified as the firm to develop a comprehensive master plan for Lafayette. Meadows notes that Fernsler is the leader of WRT's comprehensive planning practice and his presence at the conference acknowledges the Chamber's past and future role in community planning.
The Chamber has long been an advocate for sustainable growth. Beginning in the late 90s with LINC (Lafayette In the New Century), Chamber representatives participated in a steering committee that set the foundation for a plan. In 2006, Donna Landry, firmly established "Smart Growth” as a priority for the Chamber; and, in 2010, Chamber members played a vital role in the selection of WRT.
According to the WRT web site, Fernsler "is particularly adept at creating consensus among competing interests and in communicating Smart Growth planning concepts to diverse audiences.” Meadows notes Building Community Conference attendees make up an ideal diversified group of business, political and community leaders with which WRT can begin its community outreach.
The conference will be held March 24 & 25 at L'auberge du Lac in Lake Charles. All members are invited to attend. |
