Datacom Extends Voice and Vide - Thursday, April 28, 2011
|
Datacom, a leading provider of mission-critical communications to the maritime, energy, and government sectors, announced that it has extended its voice, data and video network into the Eagle Ford Shale region of South Texas.
This latest expansion provides unprecedented broadband wireless access for operators across 5,000 square miles, stretching from Austin to Corpus Christi to west of San Antonio. Now, even remotely located operators will have reliable, high-speed service for voice, real time data and video transfers, and internet access, without the latency inherent to traditional technologies such as satellite.
Specifically designed for the fast paced operations in Eagle Ford, speeds of up to 1.5 Mbps x 1.5 Mbps (Committed Information Rate), with the capability to burst to 4 Mbps, are available at very affordable rates. This available bandwidth opens the door for information transfers at a level never before available to remote drilling and production operations.
"Our customers are getting smarter about leveraging available technologies to manage their operations, and, as a result, are demanding more from their providers,” said John Poindexter, CEO of Datacom. "This latest innovation helps meet those demands, and the potential improvements to operational efficiency, security and safety are substantial.”
