Lafayette Chamber Releases Legislative Scorecard - Monday, January 10, 2011
The Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce is distributing its initial legislative scorecard, which records key votes by state legislators during the 2010 regular session.

"This scorecard is an objective method of tracking how the local delegation voted on issues important to the business community in particular, and the area in general,” stated Chamber President and CEO, Rob Guidry.

The Chamber's public policy process involves taking positions on pending legislation, communicating those positions to elected officials, and then holding those officials accountable.

Similarly, the scorecard is the vehicle by which EMPOWER-PAC, the political action arm of the Chamber, will make endorsement decisions on legislators.

According to Guidry, the issues impacting the business community are decided in the halls of government. Therefore, it is "critical that the Chamber communicate its stance on those issues, and support those who vote with us. It is the American way.”
