In its 25th year, Leadership Lafayette, a Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce©\sponsored program, is designed to empower participants through community leadership. The curriculum encourages new, energetic and innovative leaders to approach complex community issues with in©\depth analysis. With more than 600 Alumni, the program has proven to also build lasting and beneficial relationships.

"I would like to congratulate all the individuals in Class XXV. Once again, we have an excellent group of class members who are committed to learning about Lafayette and learning from others so that they can be better leaders for Lafayette. As the Institute's alumni and influence continue to grow, it is inspiring to see the potential, commitment, and enthusiasm of our incoming class,¡± said Carlee Alm-LaBar, Chair of the Leadership Institute of Acadiana.

Participants are selected based on community involvement and leadership potential. Ensuring a leadership experience that highlights local and worldviews, classmates are diverse in race and ethnicity, occupation, and age.

Participants are involved through topical sessions, conversations with community leaders, suggested readings and hands©\on excursions. The curriculum addresses community issues in the areas of education, healthcare, economic development, law enforcement, government, social services, art, culture and local history. "The Program Committee is challenged to craft a curriculum to stretch the class to its full potential and to help the class to visualize what community can be,¡± stated Guidry.
